Dr.  Duane  Wombolt  came  to the Norfolk area  in 1970   as  one  of   the  five founding   physicians  of  Eastern Virginia Medical  School.  He is  board certified  in  internal medicine  and   nephrology.    As   the   first  Nephrologist  in    the   area,  he  developed   kidney  dialysis  and  transplant in the area. He remains a clinical professor of medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School.

In addition, Dr. Wombolt was the first Certified Principal Investigator in the Tidewater area.  He developed a clinical research facility now known as Clinical Research Associates of Tidewater, where he has conducted over 450 clinical trials.
