Gout

It may be Gout

Gout:  A common form of arthritis in which an excessive amount of uric acid forms within the blood stream and results in painful inflammation of the joints.

Sharp pain within the big toe accounts for 75% of gout attacks.  Other painful attacks can occur within the ankle, knee, elbow, wrist and finger joints

Men are nine times more likely than women to develop gout.

Excessive weight gain, obesity,  heavy alcohol intake and high blood pressure are several factors that put a person at risk of developing gout.
