Pressure (Hypertension)
High blood pressure affects one in four American adults. There are no signs or symptoms for high blood pressure and approximately one third of people who have it, don't know they do.

We are conduting a research study with medications for the treatment of high blood pressure that have been approved by the FDA. You may qualify to participate if you:
* Are 18-64 years old
* Have stage 2 high blood pressure (diastolic blood pressure of at least 100mm Hg)
* Are not pregnant or breastfeeding

Eligible participants will receive:
> Study drug
> Study-related medical exams
> Study-related lab tests
Blood Pressure Readings
When your blood pressure is being measured, two numbers are recorded.
Systolic - The top number is the peak blood pressure that occurs when the heart contracts (when blood flow is first heard).

Diastolic - The bottom number is the lowest blood pressure that occurs when the heart relaxes between beats (when blood flow can no longer be heard).
Normal blood pressure for adults ages 18 and older, measured in millimeter of mercury (mm Hg)
High Blood Pressure: Above 140/90
Borderline High: 120-139/80-89
Normal: Less than 120/80
