






What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)?
IBS is a disorder of the intestines that causes abdominal pain or discomfort. The pain may occur alone or along with constipation or diarrhea.
What causes IBS?
IBS is believed to be caused by increased sensitivity of the intestines. Psychological stress and eating may bring on the symptoms.

What can I do if I have IBS?
If you have IBS and are between the ages of 18 and 70 years old, then you may qualify for a clinical research study we are conducting with Dr. Koduri at our Suffolk location at Lakeview Medical Center.


FACT: People with IBS may suffer with IBS constipation, diarrhea, or alternate between the two.
FACT: Women are twice as likely to have IBS than men.
FACT: The development of IBS is about 50% more likely in adults under the age of 35 years old.
FACT: Aside from America, IBS is also a common condition for other countries such as India, Japan, and China.
FACT: IBS can be treated with medication, but can not be cured by having surgery.
FACT: Making changes in what you eat, how you eat, and how much you eat can make a significant difference in a person’s IBS condition.
